NaturBuild is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union under the 2021 Key Action 2 call: Cooperative Partnerships in Education and Training. This initiative has developed training in green roofs aiming at promoting urban and building sustainability.
The project emerges in the context of an ecological transition, where, according to the United Nations, cities account for 60-80% of energy consumption and 75% of carbon emissions. Consequently, it is projected that by 2030, 35 million buildings will need to be renovated, creating up to 160,000 additional ‘green’ jobs in the construction sector. To meet this demand for skilled labour, the NaturBuild project offers a free online course open to anyone interested in training across all phases of green roof construction.
This new activity holds significant potential within the construction sector, requiring qualified personnel with skills covering the entire life cycle of green roofs: installation, maintenance, and deconstruction.
